Wholesale Diamonds
Diamonds at wholesale prices are usually less than 1/3rd of the price they are being sold in retail stores and mall jewellers. The reason for this is the middle man transactions that takes place. Picture this complete scenerio: A little diamond is first mined by diamond miners. Then it changes hands and end up in a diamond cutter's lab. After it's cut and polished, it's then shipped to a gemologist to be graded and certified. After that, it goes to a wholesaler who will supply distribution centers with diamonds in bulks. The distribution center then sell it to you the consumers. Each one of those stages raises the price of the original diamond in order to cover the cost. Considering that many times the diamond might even go through multiple hands just from a wholesale dealer to a retail store, by the time a diamond reaches your hand, it's price is likely to be way overblown.
In the old days, in order to buy wholesale diamonds, you had to buy them in bulks, meaning many at once, because wholesale outlets are not set up to deal with customers on single items. But now with online outlets, many wholesale companies are able to sell individual diamonds online to the general public at prices that are only a tiny bit higher than bulk prices, which is still an awesome deal.
Always remember to note the size/clarity/cut/color of a diamond that you are looking for, and look online for the best, most competitive price.
